Drill-Powered Drift Bike

Our bike featured a large driven front wheel, harvested from a fat tire bike, along with 2 rear caster wheels for stability and drifting capabilities. The bike utilized a Ryobi brushed drill to drive the front wheel using a chain with adjustable tensioner. The custom drill plate houses both the drill and the throttle mechanism. The entire frame is custom and was cut, coped, and welded by my team.
My team designed the bike using SolidWorks and conducted analysis of critical components and used both hand calculations and FEA for the analysis of the frame.
I led the manufacturing process of our bike, delegating tasks to teammates and manufacturing the supporting components for our drivetrain. I machined our pillow blocks and press fit the bearings to hold our axle. I also designed and generated the files for our drill plate.
I also delegated tasks to streamline the frame manufacturing process and cut and coped most of the frame members for our design.
